Landmarks of South Korea

A distinctive feature of South Korea, like any other developed country of the East, is an amazing combination of ancient Asian traditions and modern innovations of Western cities.

First of all, you have to say about the capital city of Seoul. It is a modern metropolis with a population of more than ten million people. The city boundary has expanded considerably in recent years as a consequence of industrialization and urbanization. Another attraction of the country is, of course, Korean cuisine. The dishes offered by local chefs definitely need to get used to. Pulkogi is a vivid example of dishes made with meat, seasoned just lots of herbs and spices that are an integral part of Korean cuisine. The second dish, but not in popularity, is kimchi. It is made from vegetables and all the herbs and spices, again in a large number of presents.

In the village of Gyeongju is one of the most majestic and largest Buddhist monasteries in the world. He received the name of Bulguksa. It was founded in 751 ad. The buildings have survived to our eyes in the same form in which they were built, initially only about 80, but now only 8. The back side of the monastery there is an artificial cave, where the Buddhist temple is Seokguram grotto, one of the world’s largest of its kind.

Of course, one of the main attractions of the Republic of Korea are the gardens. In accordance with the technology of a ancient Korean gardens “landscape designers” used the following principle – a garden should always look more natural and real than nature itself.
